Morgan Stanley

Dr. Shannon participates in an ongoing “Wellness Wednesday” workshop with The Priolo Group at Morgan Stanley. She provides practical strategies to manage stress and anxiety. She focuses on psychological resilience and targets mental processes and behaviors to promote wellness and to block the potential negative effects of stressors. Dr. Shannon also targets the power of mindfulness and mediation to keep you calm while positively impacting the structure of your brain. She leads mindfulness meditations that will help you reduce anxiety, enhance sleep patterns, lower blood pressure, increase immunity and create a sense of wellness from the inside out.

Robert Wood Johnson Hospital

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I (or my child) really need therapy?

Not everyone benefits from therapy. This depends on the nature of the problems that need to be addressed and the individuals involved.

How do I talk to my child about therapy?

Many parents ask this very appropriate question. The answer really depends on the age and developmental stage of your child. For example, for a younger child, it often makes sense to compare going to a psychologist to going to their pediatrician. The purpose of a pediatrician is to help keep your body healthy, the purpose of a psychologist is to help keep your brain healthy. Sometimes it is also helpful to say you are going to a "feelings" teacher who can help with any worries, stress, etc. For older children and adolescents, the conversation is going to be a much more involved and often collaborative process.

Do you accept insurance?

Dr. Shannon does not currently accept insurance. She is considered an "out of network" provider. Payment is due at the time of services, and clients are financially responsible for payment. A receipt/statement for services will be provided to you in the beginning of each month, and you may be able to submit this for reimbursement from your insurance company depending on your insurance contract. It is strongly recommended that you contact your insurance company prior to receiving services so that you have a full understanding of your insurance plan's reimbursement policy and structure.

What is your cancellation policy?

There is a 24-hour cancellation policy. However, if your child is sick, this is an excused cancellation, but please still call as soon as possible to cancel your session.
